Directors and staff of the federal ministry of water resources and sanitation have been commended for their collective effort, dedication, hard work, and commitment to achieving the ministry’s mission and vision and for contributing towards the nation’s growth and development.
The commendation was made by the former permanent secretary of the ministry, Mrs Didi Esther Walson-Jack, in a heartfelt valedictory speech at an emergency senior management meeting over the weekend.
This followed her recent redeployment to the federal ministry of education, a move approved by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and issued by the head of the civil service of the federation, Dr Mrs Folasade Yemi-Esan.
Mrs Walson-Jack reflected on her three-year tenure, acknowledging the privilege and honour of serving in the ministry of water resources and sanitation.
She highlighted the accomplishments and milestones achieved under her leadership, crediting them to the team’s expertise, professionalism, and relentless spirit. The permanent secretary thanked the ministry’s staff for their outstanding contributions and friendship, expressed deep appreciation for the memories created and looked forward to witnessing its continued growth and success.
She urged the ministry’s management team to continue their dedication and hard work in fulfilling its mandate, ensuring the effective management and utilisation of the nation’s water resources.
Walson-Jack expressed confidence in the ministry’s continued success under the leadership of Prof. Joseph Terlumun Utsev; and the minister of state, Mohammad Bello Goronyo, Esq.
She encouraged the team to extend the same cooperation to the incoming permanent secretary, Aliyu Shinkafi.
Walson-Jack expressed optimism about assuming her new responsibilities as the permanent secretary of the federal ministry of education, carrying the lessons learned and the shared values and experiences at the ministry of water resources and sanitation.
While acknowledging the news with mixed feelings, the directors praised Mrs Walson-Jack for her dedication, leadership, and unwavering commitment to the water and sanitation sector of the country.
They highlighted her accomplishments, expressed gratitude for her tireless efforts, and underscored her profound impact on staff of the ministry through her mentorship.
