The executive secretary of the Nigerian Christian Pilgrim Commission (NCPC), Rev. Dr. Yakubu Pam, and his delegation are currently in Amman, Jordan for the “State of Readiness Visit” regarding the forthcoming pilgrimage exercise to Israel and the Kingdom of Jordan.

It will be recalled that NCPC, working with its constitutional mandate to conduct pilgrimage activities to holy sites around the world, last year included Jordan on the list of its pilgrimage destinations and also successfully conducted pilgrimage exercise to the Kingdom, even amidst the COVID-19 global pandemic.

This time around, Rev. Pam and his delegation are in Jordan to ascertain the preparedness of ground handlers based in the country and to visit holy sites, inspect hotels that are reserved for intending pilgrims, as well the aircraft to be used at Queen Alia Airport.

Jordan is a home to religious, archeological and tourist sights, with a population of about 11 million people, of which 97% are Muslims while 3% are Christians. With safe and narrow streets, it is considered as the most peaceful country in the middle east.

The NCPC leader and the pilgrimage managers accompanying him were received in Jordan with great delight, which clearly shows the acceptance of the Christian pilgrimage by authorities in the Kingdom of Jordan.
