How Offa Poly graduates made school proud during NYSC
The management of Federal Polytechnic Offa has once again celebrated another graduate of the institution, Odeyemi Victoria Yemisi, who bagged the President’s NYSC Award, automatic employment and cash reward for diligent service as Youth Corps member.
The celebration took place at the main campus of the school on Monday, April 12, 2021 when the awardee visited the institution to meet with Dr. Lateef Ademola Olatunji, who is the rector of the polytechnic.
Victoria graduated from the department of Quantity Surveying from the school and served in Bayelsa State in 2018.
At the end of her orientation programme, she was posted to Ijaw National Academy Kaiama for her primary assignment where she taught Geography.
During her service year, she embarked on personal development projects and was shortlisted for State Governor’s Award before she was shortlisted for the Presidential award.
The other awardee, Ibrahim Aliyu, graduated from the Department of Computer Engineering and served in Darazo Local Government Area of Bauchi State, where he led the school football team to win second position in Coca-Cola Inter-school Competition.
He also qualified the school as the representative of Bauchi State in 2017 finals of Shell Inter-school Football Competition, and renovated the NYSC Corps Members’ Lodge in Darazo.
He also initiated and completed the construction of a block of four(4) toilets in GSS Darazo and was honored by Bauchi State Governor before he was shortlisted for the presidential award.
The second awardee, Odeyemi Victoria Yemisi, constructed a bus-stop at the entrance of Kaiama Town and
donated public address system to Ijaw National Academy, Kaiama.
She also distributed 1000 notebooks, 4 packs of biro and 10 packs of pencils to Rev. Proctor Memorial school, Kaiama, Kas well as to Kaiama Grammar School and Ijaw National Academy, Kaiama.
Odeyemi further distributed sanitary pads to over 120 students in Government Girls Secondary School, Kaiama, she distributed uniforms to 10 indigent students of Kaiama Grammar School and 6 pupils of Rev. Proctor Memorial school, Kaiama, as well as socks to students of Kaiama Grammar School, and established a press club in Ijaw National Academy, Kaiama among others.
The rector of the school commended President Buhari’s government for granting employment opportunities to the Youth Corps members and rewarding their dedication and commitment.
He further congratulated the two awardees from the his school for making the polytechnic proud at the national level, while urging students to take cue from the awardees and be good ambassadors of the institution at all times.
The presidential award ceremony was held on February 11, 2021 at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.
