For the very first time since its establishment 43 years ago, the umbrella body of all medical students at the University of Jos in North-Central Nigeria has elected a female president to lead them.
Ehi Mary Ekoja, a 600 level student in the faculty of medical sciences, has been elected as the President of Jos University Medical Students Association (JUMSA).
She will succeed the outgoing president of the association, Simon Vokol Ogenyi, whose tenure is about to end.
This makes Ekoja the first female president ever in the history of JUMSA since its inception in 1978, about 43 years ago.
