The fourth meeting of the project monitoring unit (PMU) for the effective implementation of the 2013 “National Water Resources Master Plan” on Wednesday kicked off in Abuja.
This is a prelude to a two-day capacity building workshop for proper understanding of the contents of the 2013 National Water Resources Master Plan, which is to commence from April 15 to 16, 2021.
The master plan under review is the plan, polices, programmes and the implementation processes for effective provision of safe water by the ministry of water resources to all households from year 2013 till date.
The first water resources master plan was drafted in 1995 but there was no guideline for its implementation.
The national water resources policy guideline is still in draft form and will be considered at the two-day capacity building workshop for onward presentation to the minister of water resources and th Federal Executive Council before implementation.
The draft guideline for the implementation of the policy is in 15 key areas.
The meeting was attended by the director, department of water resources, planning and technical support services, as well as deputy directors from the same department and other stakeholders.
