A recent secondary school graduate from Benue State, who scored the highest points in the recently released results by the Joint Admissions Matriculation Board (JAMB), has received a special reward from a prominent Benue-born medical practitioner.

Miss Naswem Joy Doose of SORA HEIGHTS School, Gboko, who did not only emerge as Benue’s highest scorer but also placed third nationally in the 2025 JAMB examination with 369 marks, was gifted the sum of ₦200 thousand by the chief medical director of the Benue State University Teaching Hospital, Makurdi, Dr. Stephen Terungwa Hwande.

Presenting the gift, Dr. Hwande commended Doose’s resilience and outstanding performance, saying she brought pride to her school, family, and the state in general. He further urged students to prioritize academics, stressing that education can unlock global opportunities beyond imagination.

The CMD cited the inspiring example of three students from Yobe State, who recently gained international recognition through their participation in the TeenEagle global competition held in London, emphasizing that Doose’s achievement has also placed her in similar promising light.

In her response, Doose expressed gratitude to Dr. Hwande for his generosity and words of encouragement. She also promised to sustain her academic excellence and make greater strides in the future.

Doose is the daughter of the head of legal unit at the Benue State University Teaching Hospital, Barr. Dr. Stella Naswem. Her success, according to family and friends, is a product of determination, hard work and consistent parental support.
