The ministry of water resources on Monday said that the Gari Irrigation Project, which stretches across Jigawa and Kano States in northern Nigeria is set for commissioning.

In a statement signed by Mrs. Kenechukwu Offie, who is the director of press and public relations in the ministry, this is in line with the commitment of President Buhari towards the diversification of the Nigerian economy, as well as ensuring food security and enhancing the welfare of Nigerians.

It also noted that the information to commission the irrigation project was first contained in a public statement made by the management of federal ministry of water resources, and signed by the permanent secretary, Didi Esther Walson-Jack.

“The honourable minister of water resources, Engr. Suleiman Adamu, will be commissioning the project on Wednesday, April 26, at the Gari Irrigation Project site by 10am prompt,” the statement read in part.
