As Nigeria celebrates its 62nd Independence Day, the United States Mission in Nigeria has also said it is celebrating “the strong partnership between our two nations, highlighting our continued support to Nigeria’s development and progress.”
Nigeria gained political independence from Britain on October 1st, 1960.

That over the past year, the U.S. supported the testing of over 8 million people for HIV, with over 240,000 testing positive and being placed on treatment?
That through the President’s Emergency Program for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR), the U.S. government supports programs that provide treatment to about 2 million people living with HIV in Nigeria?
That this includes nearly 800,000 children and caregivers who benefited from our orphans and vulnerable children program?
