The whereabout of an activist and politician from Igbanke town in Orhionmwon Local Government Area of Edo State, Vincent Chinedu Johnson, has become a matter of growing concern to people of the community and political associates.
Speaking to journalists in Abuja, an associate of the activist, Comrade Friday Eze, said for over two years, “fellow comrades have not been able to reach him by telephone or any other possible means.
“We are seriously anxious and disturbed over his absence which is very unusual”, Eze said.
According to him, the contributions of Johnson in the build up to the 2015 general elections were of immense benefit towards building a virile democratic culture in the area, especially among youthful politicians.
The activist participated fully in the governatorial bid of Professor Fredrick Amadasun in Edo State on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Some people think that Johnson may be somewhere in Nigeria maintaining a low profile and there is no statement yet from his family as his whereabout continues to be of concern to many. It is also feared that the young man may be a victim of politically motivated abduction.
Before venturing into politics, the activist was an active member of Abuja Chamber of Commerce, Mines, Industry and Agriculture (ABUCCIMA), now rechristened Abuja Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ACCI), amongst other business engagements.
