The national leadership of the Society for Nigerian Broadcasters (SNB) has approved the appointment of Ahmed Balarabe Sa’id as the new Kaduna State coordinator.
The appointment, which was announced on Wednesday by the north-west zonal coordinator of SBN, Alhaji Saidu Ado Warawa, on behalf of the national body, fills the vacancy created by the elevation of the immediate past state coordinator, Farida Abubakar, to the position of national treasurer.
“The nomination of Sa’id is well-deserved and reflects his standing as a consummate practitioner with vast industry experience,” Warawa said.
A recipient of the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) Prize for the Overall Best Graduating Student in Mass Communication at Bayero University, Kano, Sa’id brings a robust portfolio to the role, combining academic excellence with extensive hands-on industry experience.
Currently a lecturer at Kaduna Polytechnic, Sa’id’s professional trajectory includes significant roles in print, broadcast media and public relations. He was at different times a reporter, bureau chief, assistant editor, and managing editor at The Market Magazine.
His broadcast background includes freelancing as assistant producer and presenter during his undergraduate studies, as well as a stint as news editor at Independent Television, Abuja, prior to joining the academia, where he pioneered the Kaduna Polytechnic Campus Radio, Spider FM, as its first manager.
Beyond the classroom and newsroom, Sa’id has led various industry-related initiatives. Notably, he served as the capacity building team lead for a World Bank radio adoption project aimed at supporting irrigation farmers.
A renowned public relations practitioner, former NIPR study center coordinator and state secretary, Sa’id is the author of Aren’t We All PR People? and serves as the faculty head of Kaduna Media Academy, a private media training initiative.
SBN expressed confidence that his appointment will further strengthen the organization’s presence and activities within Kaduna State.
The society acts as a professional body dedicated to the advancement of broadcasting standards, the welfare of practitioners, and the promotion of ethical journalism across Nigeria.
