As Muslims celebrate this year’s eid-el-Fitri, the lawmaker representing Ede North, Ede South, Egbedore, Ejigbo Federal Constituency in the National Assembly, Rep Bamidele Salam, has enjoined islamic faithfuls to retain the spirit of love, sacrifice and self discipline imbibed in the last 30 days of the holy month of Ramadan.
In a felicitation message to muslims in the spirit of the Sallah, Salam further urged muslims to use the occasion of the celebrations to offer prayers on challenges of the moment facing almost every household in the country, and also be guided by the Sunnah of the Prophet Mohammed in all their future endeavours.
The lawmaker also called on religious and community leaders in the federal constituency to inculcate the teachings of this season to spread message of love and peaceful cohabitation among residents in order to douse tensions of hate and war-mongering that are currently prevalent in the country.
“As leaders, we must deploy powers and privileges embedded in our positions in the society to preach peace, joy and calmness accompanying the sighting of the moon at the end of Ramadan, and reinforce peace and harmony in our nation.
According to him, “true love and sacrifices devoid of discrimination of race, color, faith, class or tongue is the hallmark of all spiritual teachings and the reason why the world will win against hate and fear.
“May the Almighty Allah accept our good deeds, forgive our transgressions and ease the suffering of His creatures in our land.
“Let’s all join our hands to thank Allah for this wonderful day, marking the end of the holy month, while we pray, care, love, smile and celebrate with one another. Eid Mubarak!”
